Dr. Yung T. Huang Retirement
For approximately a quarter of a century, Yung (John) T. Huang, Ph.D. has been Director of The Virology Laboratory in the Department of Pathology at University Hospitals Case Medical Center and a faculty member of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Huang was recruited in 1983 by Dr. Michael Lamm who was then Chairman of the Department of Pathology and Director of the Institute of Pathology.

Dr. Huang has been an advisor for Case graduate students and responsible for the teaching of virology to numerous UHCMC residents and fellows. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications. Under Dr. Huang's mentorship, graduate student Alison Wright will defend her thesis based on this research in mid-January 2008.

Over the years, Dr. Yung T. Huang has developed sixteen patents related to diagnostic virology. In his retirement years, he will act as a consultant to a company in Ohio and continue his interest in vaccine development.
